Stoopid Boy Dies, Leaving Kenya’s Music Scene in Mourning

Rapper Stoopid Boy, best known for the viral Arbantone hit “G Bag Na Jug,” has died, with news of his death sparking grief among fans, friends and fellow artistes.

His death was confirmed on Thursday, August 27, 2026, by his friend and fellow artiste Raveen Domi, who shared the news while in Gota City.

Domi said he had seen Stoopid Boy on Wednesday and that the rapper appeared to be in good spirits. The two spent some time together before Stoopid Boy told him he was heading to the studio to continue working on his music.

“Jamaa hata jana alikuwa tu fiti. Tumekuwa naye hapa kwa street kidogo kidogo, akaniambia anaenda studio. So alikuwa na ngoma alikuwa anaendelea kurecord,” Domi said.

According to Domi, Stoopid Boy remained focused on his music and had several unfinished projects he hoped to complete.

“So jamaa ameondoka kama ako na unfinished dreams guys. Sad kabisa. Na tumepoteza msanii. Like Gota City kila mtu ana-mourn tu huku. Ni mbaya tu guys,” he said.

Last encounter

Domi also recalled what would become his final interaction with the rapper.

He said he was leaving his home for Mukuru when Stoopid Boy approached him and asked for Ksh25. Domi said he did not have the money at the time but promised to try to get some after reaching Mukuru.

“Nilikuwa natoka kwangu nikienda Mukuru, so akaniomba, I think alikuwa na niomba 25 bob, of which sikuwa nayo. Nikamwambia, ‘Ah bro sina, labda nikifika Mukuru nipate nikuletea hivi,’” Domi recalled.

After returning home, Domi said he was called outside and informed that Stoopid Boy had died at his mother’s home.

The news left him struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“Like hata sijui niseme nini guys, walai. Sijui niseme nini,” he said.

Music career and unfinished projects

Domi said he and Stoopid Boy had discussed several projects they hoped to work on together, but they never got the opportunity to complete them.

“Personally tulikuwa na a lot of projects alikuwa anataka tupige pamoja but hatukuwanga tumezipiga. Sad. Hivyo ndio kijana ameenda,” he said.

The rapper was reportedly working on new music shortly before his death, adding to the sense of loss among those who knew him.

Stoopid Boy had built a following through Arbantone, a Kenyan music movement that has gained significant popularity among young audiences. His hit “G Bag Na Jug” became one of the songs associated with the genre's growing influence.

Personal struggles

Stoopid Boy had previously spoken publicly about struggles involving substance use and had sought support to turn his life around.

In early 2025, he received assistance through Oga Obinna’s platform and entered a three-month rehabilitation programme with support from several well-wishers.

Following rehabilitation, the artiste spoke publicly about the challenges he faced as he attempted to maintain his recovery.

He had also experienced personal and family difficulties, including the loss of his older brother Yan, whom he mourned publicly in 2026.

The artiste had previously faced a public personal crisis as well, highlighting the challenges he had been navigating away from his music career.

As news of his death continues to spread, fans and fellow musicians have taken to social media to mourn an artiste whose career was still developing and whose musical journey had been marked by both success and personal challenges.
