DCI Arrests Third Suspect Over Deadly Chaos at UDA Meeting in Embu

EMBU, KENYA — Detectives have arrested a third suspect in connection with the deadly violence that erupted during a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates’ meeting in Embu on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The unnamed suspect was arrested on September 14 in the Kithimu area of Embu town during a coordinated operation involving detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters Operations Support Team (OAT) and the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Branch (CRIB).

The latest arrest brings to three the number of suspects apprehended in connection with the incident.

Two other suspects were arrested on Saturday, shortly after the violence broke out during the political gathering.

Detectives Intensify Investigations

The arrests come as detectives intensify investigations aimed at identifying other individuals believed to have participated in the violence.

The deadly chaos disrupted the UDA delegates’ meeting and prompted a security investigation as authorities moved to establish what triggered the confrontation and identify those responsible.

The DCI said investigations remain ongoing and that its teams are pursuing additional leads to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

DCI Vows Action Against Suspects

The investigative agency has assured the public that all individuals found to have participated in the violence will face the law, regardless of their political affiliation or alleged motive.

The DCI said its investigations would focus on identifying and apprehending anyone involved in the violence.

The latest arrest signals an escalation of the investigation as detectives work to piece together events surrounding the Embu meeting and determine the roles played by those involved.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the suspects or indicated whether they have been formally charged in court.
