Former High Court Judge Justice Joseph Mbalu Mutava has died.
Justice Mutava passed away on Saturday morning, prompting messages of condolence from political leaders, colleagues and friends.
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka mourned the former judge, describing him as a man who served with honour and quiet distinction.
Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama also expressed his sorrow, describing Justice Mutava as a long-time family friend.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my long-time family friend, Former High Court Judge Justice Joseph Mbalu Mutava,” Muthama said.
Justice Mutava was married to Jessica Nduku Mbalu, the Member of Parliament for Kibwezi East.
Judicial Career
Justice Mutava was appointed to the High Court in 2011 and served at the Milimani Commercial Courts, where he handled commercial and other judicial matters.
He left the Judiciary in 2016 following his removal from office.
His death has prompted tributes from leaders who remembered his contribution to Kenya's judicial system and public service.
