Four Charged With Murder of Dr. Victoria Thunya Mutiso in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya —Four suspects have appeared before the Milimani Law Courts and been charged with the murder of Dr. Victoria Thunya Mutiso, who was allegedly killed in Nairobi last month.

The suspects Angela Mulwa, Rose Mbithe Mulwa, alias Rose Mbithe Ndetei, Chris Mulwa and Elijah Kibelion Kimoi appeared before Justice Kanyi Kimondo, where the murder charge was read to them.

However, the suspects did not enter a plea because the court only read out the information contained in the charge. They are expected to formally answer to the allegations after undergoing mental assessments.

Suspects to Undergo Mental Assessment

Justice Kimondo directed that the four suspects undergo mental assessments before being presented before Justice Alexander Muteti, where they are expected to take a plea on the murder charge.

The court also directed that Elijah Kibelion Kimoi be provided with legal representation.

The proceedings will determine how the case proceeds as prosecutors pursue the allegations against the four accused persons.

Murder Allegedly Committed in Kilimani

According to the prosecution, the suspects are accused of jointly murdering Dr. Mutiso on July 29, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The alleged incident occurred along Mawensi Road in Kilimani, Nairobi County.

Prosecutors further allege that the four acted jointly with other individuals who have not yet been brought before the court.

The identities and whereabouts of the other alleged accomplices remain subject to ongoing investigations.

Suspects Face Murder Charge

The four suspects face a charge of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code.

Under Kenya's legal process, being charged does not amount to a finding of guilt, and the accused persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court.

The case is expected to return before the court after the mental assessments, when the suspects will formally respond to the murder allegations.

Authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding Dr. Mutiso's death and the alleged involvement of the accused persons and other potential suspects.
