Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has called for answers over the circumstances surrounding the death of former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno, directly challenging Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to explain what he knows about the case.

Speaking at a rally at Mogondo Centre in Emurua Dikirr, Narok County, on Friday, Gachagua said he had visited Ngeno’s mother before the rally and was told that the family was still seeking closure over the former lawmaker’s death.

Gachagua Questions Circumstances of Plane Crash

Gachagua raised questions about events surrounding the day Ngeno died, citing details about the aircraft, its movement and an individual who he claimed had been questioned before allegedly being released following a phone call.

“Mimi nikiwa hapa nataka kuambia mama tunataka tujibiwe,” Gachagua said, calling for answers over the circumstances of Ngeno’s death.

He alleged that Ngeno had been at Endebes on the day of the incident and raised questions about fuel that was reportedly brought from Lodwar for the aircraft.

Gachagua further claimed that the plane departed at about 3:07pm and that a man who had been questioned in connection with the circumstances was later released after a phone call.

He then directly challenged Murkomen to explain what he knew about the alleged release.

“Tunataka Murkomen aseme anajua nini ndio yule jamaa aachiliwe.”

The remarks, translated, mean: “We want Murkomen to tell us what he knows about the matter that led to the man's release.”

Gachagua did not provide evidence during the rally to substantiate the allegations he raised.

Family Seeks Closure

Gachagua also said Ngeno’s mother had expressed concern over the speed with which her son was buried.

According to the DCP leader, Ngeno’s mother also told him that she had been promised assistance following her son’s death but was now struggling to meet basic needs, including the cost of medicine.

Gachagua questioned why the family was allegedly facing financial difficulties despite the support that he said had been promised.

The comments have added a political dimension to renewed questions surrounding the former MP’s death, with Gachagua calling for greater transparency over the circumstances of the incident.

Gachagua Accuses Murkomen of Blocking Rally

The DCP leader also accused Murkomen of attempting to keep him out of Emurua Dikirr ahead of Friday’s rally.

Gachagua said he nevertheless managed to reach the constituency and address residents at Mogondo Centre.

The allegations come amid heightened political activity in the region, with Gachagua using the rally to raise questions about Ngeno’s death and the treatment of his family.

Ngeno Died in February Plane Crash

Johana Ngeno, who served as the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, died in February in a plane crash.

His death shocked residents and political leaders, with condolences pouring in following the incident.

Gachagua’s latest remarks have now renewed public attention on the circumstances surrounding the crash and the questions raised by Ngeno’s family.

The claims made at the rally remain allegations, and any determination about the circumstances of the crash or the actions of individuals mentioned would require evidence from the relevant authorities and investigative findings.
