George Ruto Meets Teacher Cillah as Viral Social Media Saga Takes Turn

President William Ruto’s son, George Ruto, has met Westlands Primary School teacher Priscilla Wanjiku Karanja, popularly known as Teacher Cillah, bringing weeks of social media speculation surrounding the pair to an end.

The much-anticipated meeting took place on Tuesday, August 26, at Westlands Primary School in Nairobi, where Teacher Cillah teaches Grade Three.

George arrived at the school accompanied by the Pace Setter Magazine team and members of the Mood matatu crew, with the popular matatu also making an appearance at the institution.

The visit followed weeks of viral social media exchanges after Teacher Cillah publicly expressed interest in George following President Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto’s traditional wedding, commonly known as Koito.

From Social Media Banter to a Face-to-Face Meeting

Teacher Cillah’s playful videos and posts about George attracted widespread attention online, with thousands of Kenyans following what began as a light-hearted social media pursuit.

In one of her viral TikTok videos, Cillah said she wanted to “shoot her shot” at George and expressed her desire to marry him and become part of the First Family.

George joined the banter by asking for her Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration number, a response that further fuelled the online conversation.

Cillah continued posting humorous content about the imagined relationship and wedding, at one point involving her father in the joke as he playfully appeared to approve George as a potential son-in-law.

However, during Tuesday’s school visit, George addressed the speculation directly.

“I came to first of all set the record straight. I have a wife, but I think that it was good while it lasted. It showed how the world has become a global village,” he said.

George did not identify the partner he referred to, but his remarks were widely viewed as putting to rest speculation that his interactions with Teacher Cillah could lead to a romantic relationship.

George Joins Pupils for Classroom Activities

Despite the attention surrounding their social media exchanges, the visit largely focused on the school and its learners.

George met school administrators and signed the visitors’ book before touring classrooms and interacting with teachers and pupils.

He joined Teacher Cillah’s Grade Three class during a multiplication lesson, engaging learners and participating in the classroom activity.

Pupils also presented him with drawings inspired by the Mood matatu, which had been driven into the school compound as part of the visit.

The school grounds later took on a festive atmosphere, with learners and teachers treated to dance performances, DJ music and a talent showcase.

City matatus associated with the Mood and Moneyfest brands also added to the entertainment, drawing excitement from the pupils.

George later toured classrooms, speaking with learners at their desks and observing the learning environment. He also planted a tree on the school grounds before concluding his visit.

Support for the School

During the visit, George pledged to support the school with educational and learning resources.

He had previously indicated that he was considering providing learning materials and sports equipment after learning more about Teacher Cillah’s work with pupils.

Teacher Cillah expressed gratitude for the visit, saying the children were excited by the experience.

“I have no words that can describe how I feel. Today was such a good day at work. Children went home happy, and that makes me happy too,” she said.

George, in turn, commended Cillah for her work as a teacher and encouraged her to continue making an impact in the lives of young learners.

While the meeting briefly reignited interest in the pair’s viral online exchanges, George’s clarification about his relationship status shifted the focus back to the purpose of the visit: celebrating pupils, supporting education and recognising the work of teachers.
