Ruto, Uhuru and Leaders Mourn Death of Martha Karua’s Father

President William Ruto has joined political leaders in mourning Mwalimu Jackson Karua, the father of People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, who died on Sunday at his home in Kirinyaga County.

President Ruto conveyed his condolences to Martha Karua, the wider Karua family, relatives and friends following the death.

In his message, Ruto acknowledged Mwalimu Karua’s years of service in education and his contribution to the lives of those he taught.

“We join Martha, the Karua family, relatives and friends in mourning this loss and honouring a life of service,” Ruto said, while extending his thoughts and prayers to the family.

Uhuru Kenyatta Pays Tribute

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta also sent his condolences to the Karua family, describing the late Mwalimu Karua as a man remembered for his commitment to education, principled leadership, strong character and devotion to his family.

Kenyatta expressed his continued support and prayers for the family as they come to terms with the loss.

Kalonzo Musyoka Consoles Martha Karua

Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka also mourned Mwalimu Karua and extended his condolences to the family and friends.

Musyoka offered words of encouragement to Martha Karua, acknowledging her resilience while urging her to draw strength as the family goes through the difficult period.

Gachagua Highlights His Influence

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua described Mwalimu Karua as an influential figure whose contribution extended beyond the classroom.

Gachagua said the late teacher played an important role in shaping the lives of people he taught and in raising Martha Karua and her siblings.

He also recognised Martha Karua’s contribution to Kenya’s public life, linking it to the values and upbringing provided by her parents.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga also sent his condolences, describing Mwalimu Karua as an important role model in Martha Karua’s life.

Maraga said the values and character instilled by her father are reflected in Karua’s public life, particularly in what he described as her courage and integrity.

He prayed for comfort and strength for the Karua family during the mourning period.
