Musician Stivo Simple Boy has announced plans to venture into elective politics and seek a parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview on Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Freshi Barida hitmaker said he was considering contesting for an MP seat in Kasarani, Lang’ata or Kibera.
“I will vie for either Kasarani, Lang’ata ama Kibera,” Stivo said when asked about his political ambitions.
The musician, however, said he had not yet settled on the political party he would use to pursue his bid.
When asked about his preferred party, Stivo responded, “Chama sijaamua,” indicating that no decision had been made. He also left open the possibility of running as an independent candidate.
“Labda inaweza kuwa kibinafsi,” he said.
Campaign Activities Could Begin Soon
Stivo also suggested that he could begin engaging voters on the ground in the coming days.
Asked whether he had already started campaigning, the musician replied, “Tunaanza next week,” signalling that his political activities could begin as early as the following week.
His latest announcement adds him to the growing list of Kenyan entertainers who have expressed interest in elective politics ahead of the 2027 General Election.
From Music to Politics
Stivo has previously spoken about entering politics. In 2025, he announced plans to contest for an MCA position in Kibra, saying he wanted to address challenges affecting young people, including unemployment and access to bursaries.
His latest statement represents a broader parliamentary ambition, with the musician now naming Kasarani and Lang’ata alongside Kibera as possible constituencies.
Other Kenyan entertainers have also publicly expressed political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, including musician KRG The Don, who has expressed interest in a parliamentary seat, and Bahati, who has spoken about pursuing a gubernatorial position. Mugithi singer Samidoh has also announced plans to contest the Ol Joro Orok parliamentary seat, while comedian Sammy Kioko has declared his bid for Mavoko MP.
Kasarani Race Already Attracting Aspirants
Should Stivo ultimately choose Kasarani, he would enter a constituency where Pastor Victor Kanyari has already declared his intention to contest the parliamentary seat in 2027.
Kanyari announced his Kasarani bid earlier in 2026 and has subsequently undertaken public engagements in the constituency. His campaign has highlighted issues including roads, education, water and youth empowerment.
For now, Stivo has not disclosed the constituency he will contest, the party he intends to use or whether he will ultimately run as an independent candidate.
His next steps are therefore expected to clarify whether his political plans will focus on Kasarani, Lang’ata or Kibera as the 2027 election cycle develops.
