Vally Amisi Family Demands Answers Over Suspect’s Extradition to DRC

The family of Congolese entrepreneur Vally Amisi is calling for greater transparency over the extradition of Benny Mukena, the main suspect arrested in connection with Amisi’s death.

Amisi, a young entrepreneur based in South Africa, was found dead in April at a hotel in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Mukena was later arrested in neighbouring Republic of the Congo, commonly known as Congo-Brazzaville. However, according to Amisi’s family, the process of transferring him to the DRC to face proceedings has yet to be completed.

Family Seeks Progress on Extradition

For Amisi’s relatives, Mukena’s arrest represented an important development in the investigation.

Julie Amisi, Vally Amisi’s sister, said seeing the suspect in custody in Brazzaville provided some relief to the family.

However, she said the family now wants authorities to complete the extradition process and allow the suspect to face justice in the DRC.

The family has called for official information about the status of the extradition request and the steps being taken by authorities in both countries.

Lawyer Questions Delay

The family’s lawyer, Jean-Claude Mulingenya, has also questioned why the process appears to have stalled.

He has called on the relevant authorities to explain what is delaying the transfer of Mukena to the DRC.

The lawyer said the family wants to understand whether there are legal or administrative obstacles preventing the case from progressing.

The allegations raised by the family and their lawyer remain claims, and the circumstances surrounding the extradition process have not been fully explained publicly.

Other Arrests Reported

Judicial authorities in the DRC have said that several people have already been arrested in connection with the investigation into Amisi’s death.

The case remains under investigation, and the arrest of a suspect does not by itself establish criminal responsibility. Any allegations against Mukena will need to be addressed through the appropriate judicial process.

The family is therefore seeking both progress in the investigation and greater communication from the authorities.
