On Saturday, November 15, 2025, Kanze Dena-Mararo, spokesperson for the Office of Kenya’s Fourth President, visited the family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo to convey condolences on behalf of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Dena met with Bayo’s husband, Hiram Gitau, their children, Sky and Danny, and other close relatives, offering words of comfort during what she described as “a deeply painful moment.” In a show of support, she presented a contribution of Ksh 1 million from the former president to assist with funeral arrangements, honoring Bayo’s life, ministry, and influence.

In addition, Uhuru Kenyatta committed to providing scholarships for Betty Bayo’s children through the Kenyatta Foundation. In a written tribute, he described Bayo as “an extraordinary minister of the gospel whose music uplifted countless hearts and inspired hope across the nation.” He praised her devotion to faith, her artistic legacy, and the lasting impact she had on Kenya’s gospel music industry, noting that “her legacy will endure through her children, her music, and the many lives she touched.”
