Pop superstar Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have made their relationship public on Instagram, sharing a series of photos and videos from their recent trip to Japan.
In one striking selfie, the couple’s faces are seen pressed close together, smiling at the camera, while another video captures them enjoying sushi during the visit. Though neither Perry nor Trudeau has directly commented on their relationship, speculation has been mounting for months, fueled by multiple sightings and candid photos of the duo together.
Trudeau was seen attending one of Perry’s concerts earlier this year, sparking initial rumours of a romance. Perry, 41, visited Japan as part of her global Lifetimes Tour, accompanying her Instagram carousel with the caption: “Tokyo times on tour and more.” Trudeau, 53, also shared a photograph of the couple with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko, writing on X: “Great to see you @kishida230. Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”
The pair appeared to confirm their relationship publicly last month when they were photographed holding hands at an event in Paris. Celebrity news outlet TMZ shared images and video footage showing Trudeau assisting Perry into a car, marking their first widely recognized public outing as a couple. The Paris appearance coincided with Perry’s 41st birthday.
Earlier in her Lifetimes Tour in London, Perry hinted at her relationship status during a performance when a fan proposed to her from the audience. She quipped, “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago,” just days after photographs of her and Trudeau began circulating online.
Perry was previously in a decade-long relationship with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter. The couple separated over the summer of 2025. Trudeau, who led Canada as Prime Minister from 2015 to 2025, was married to Sophie Grégoire for 18 years before their split in 2023; they share three children.
The Instagram posts from Japan mark a significant moment for the couple, signaling their relationship publicly and capturing global attention as Perry continues her international tour.
