The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has released the official schedule for a series of national memorial services in honour of its late party leader, Raila Amolo Odinga.

The announcement followed a meeting of the ODM Central Committee held on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi the first such gathering since the passing of the veteran statesman.

In a statement signed by Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, the party confirmed that the memorial events will be conducted in various regions across the country to allow Kenyans from all walks of life to celebrate and reflect on Raila Odinga’s enduring legacy as a liberation hero, statesman, and unifying national figure.

“In line with the wishes of millions of Kenyans whose lives he touched, the party will hold memorial services in different parts of the country to give his admirers the opportunity to commemorate his remarkable life and leadership,” the statement read in part.

According to the communiqué, the first memorial service will take place in Magarini, Kilifi County, on November 2 and 3, followed by events in Homa Bay and Migori counties on November 5 and 6.

“Memorial venues are as follows: Magarini in Kilifi County on November 2nd and 3rd, Homa Bay and Migori on November 5th and 6th,” the statement confirmed.

In addition to the memorial activities, ODM announced that preparations for the upcoming ODM@20 celebrations, scheduled for November 14 to 16, are well underway. The milestone anniversary will now serve a dual purpose marking two decades of ODM’s political journey and paying tribute to Raila Odinga’s transformative leadership over the years.

“As part of strengthening and expanding the party’s reach, the ODM@20 celebrations will proceed as planned, accompanied by activities aimed at reinforcing unity and solidarity within the party,” the statement noted. “Committees tasked with organizing these events are urged to continue preparations.”

ODM extended heartfelt condolences to Raila Odinga’s family, his friends and allies, and to the people of Kenya, describing his true inheritance as the mission to advance his vision for a just, democratic, and prosperous nation.

The party also appealed to the national government to release pending political party funds owed to ODM, emphasizing that such support would help sustain programs that reflect and uphold Odinga’s enduring legacy.

“We appeal to all members and all Kenyans to celebrate his life with dignity and gratitude, honoring his leadership, legacy, and sacrifice to our nation,” the committee concluded.
