Authorities in Baringo County have successfully recovered four illegally held rifles that were voluntarily surrendered in Orus Location, Tiaty East Sub-County.
The National Police Service (NPS) reported that the firearms, handed over on Saturday, were accompanied by four magazines and eight rounds of ammunition. The recovered weapons have since been secured and are being held pending further investigations.
The surrender comes as part of a broader government-led peace and disarmament initiative aimed at restoring stability in the region. To date, collaborative security operations have seen a total of 396 illegal firearms and 1,503 rounds of ammunition handed in voluntarily.
The NPS praised local leaders and the community for their active participation, emphasizing that voluntary disarmament is a key step toward lasting peace and security in Baringo County.
